World Jamboree Selection Weekend - 05-10-2005
In 2007 the 21st world scout jamboree is being held in Essex in the UK. This will be a special celebration due to the fact 2007 is the centenary year of scouting. Along with Luke and Katie I went along to a selection camp being held at Hamlet wood for a place in the Kent contingent. This camp took place over the weekend and was attended by 12 scouts all hoping to be selected. We started off by getting to know each other and setting up out tents. The next day we had a few team exercises to complete while being assessed by the people with clipboards which was a very intimidating thought. One exercise was to plan what we would be eating that night and then sending out people to go and buy the food. We had our person
al interviews and then completed some more tasks and planned for a hike that night. It was a cold night but the hike went well (even with boots that weren’t big enough for my feet!!). The next morning we dismantled our camp and went home wondering if we were to be selected. After waiting anxiously I was lucky enough to be selected but I just want to say well done to everyone for a fun camp and thank you to Nigel, Ian and Clare for running the camp.
